F1 Broadcast

A Game Jam prototype made for the GMTK Game Jam 2023 on the theme of "roles reversed".

F1 Broadcast sees you at a Formula1-type event, but instead of racing a car, you're the pilot of the broadcast helicopter following the cars trying to capture the best angles and footage.

This was produced in just over 24 hours so is very limited in what you're able to do. You can follow the cars around. There are no objectives, scoring systems or rewards. Simply Hold A to accelerate the camera - the controls work best if you feather the controls rather than hold down A constantly.

Left and Right trigger zoom in and out the camera.

Given more time I'd like to refine the controls, gGenerate different events for you to fly to such as crashes or skids etc. Give the player some feedback in terms of audience engagement for example. The more you focus the crosshair on the lead cars, for example, the highest your score/audience engagement.

I also wanted to add an in-ear television director instructing you to do things such as: "Crash at turn 1"
"Track the squabbling back-markers" 
"The leader just went off the track. Zoom in on them"
"P3 is making a move on P2, track this battle for a whole lap"

I also planned to make more of the battery indicator, but of course 48 isn't a lot of time when you're working solo. All things consider, I'm pretty happy with this and think it looks great, particularly considering it's made in 2D in GameMaker.
